In 1999 IKARUS Modellflugsport presented the Piccolo, the first radio-controlled indoor helicopter with a flying weight of less than 300 grams! This revolutionary new helicopter requiries only 6 to 8 battery cells to achieve a flying time of 7 to 15 minutes. Specifically designed for people that are interested in buying or already own a Piccolo, this simulator is the perfect

tool to learn or improve your flying skills. With the help of Norbert Grüntjens the founder and owner of IKARUS Modellflugsport, we adjusted the flightmodel of the Piccolo helicopter inside PiccoFly so that it flies just like its real counterpart. Even the influence of the weight distribution due to the motors, servos and batteries are taken into account.

The PiccoFly simulator is set in a beautiful and highly detailed indoor scenery with 2 stories and 5 rooms. This gives you the chance to practice and improve your flying skills just like you would do in your own house. Based on the sophisticated simulator technology of AeroFly this simulator has full collision detection with every object in the house. This means you can land and collide with everything you see.

As an example take a look at the kitchen scenario to your right. Experienced Piccolo pilots will be able to land the helicopter in the kitchen sink without crashing it. Real experts even manage to land on the narrow water tap. Why don’t you try it yourself! With only a few hours of practice using the PiccoFly simulator you will be able to achieve the same.

All rooms inside the house are connected, so you can follow the Piccolo through the whole place by walking behind it. But be careful: Going down the stairs to the cellar might not be as easy as it looks. Also take a look at the stairs where you can see that even the shadow is being simulated everywhere. You can click on the image to see a larger version.

The Piccolo helicopter can be controlled either using a joystick (we recommend you use at least one with 3 independant axis) or your own a transmitter. If you want to use your transmitter you can use the interface-cable that is being shipped with PiccoFly. The cable connects from the serial-port of your computer to the trainer output of your transmitter (so make sure your radio has a trainer output fitted). All standard rc-radio types are supported, check the requirements page for a list of supported manufacturers. If you are unsure if your transmitter can be used with PiccoFly contact IKARUS Modellflugsport.

Also included in this special offer, purchase the PiccoFly Flight Simulator and get the Easy Fly Flight Sim for FREE. EasyFly is a realistic and easy to use flight simulator, which lets you explore the world of model aircraft flying. You will be surprised how fast you will be able to fly airplanes and hover helicopters using easyFly. easyFly is not only a program for beginners, but also offers experienced rc-pilots the possibility to further improve their flying skills.

Many world class rc-pilots use Flight Sims to train for risky flight maneuvers or to get to know new flying techniques, which in reality would mean an (expensive) crash even for the slightest mistake.
